The role and working principle of the MPPT charge controller

The MPPT charge controller can optimize the connection between the solar panel and the battery or the utility grid. MPPT (Maximum Power Point Tracking) is used to absorb the voltage output by the solar panel and convert it to a more suitable voltage to charge the battery pack.

The MPPT controller is automatic. It will automatically adjust the gear position according to the engine speed, and always keep the car running at the most reasonable efficiency level. The MPPT controller will track the maximum power point of the solar panel in real-time to maximize the efficiency of the solar panel. The higher the voltage, the more power can be output through maximum power tracking, thereby improving the charging efficiency.

The MPPT charge controller allows the output voltage of the PV array to be higher than the output voltage of the battery pack without loss of power. The MPPT charge controller will monitor the maximum power point of the PV array and try to use this information to adjust not only the output voltage of the PV array but also the current. Generally, this means that it will reduce the voltage while increasing the current while maintaining most of the total output power.

MPPT charge controllers are newer, more efficient, have greater design flexibility, can be built for larger systems, and generally provide manufacturers with longer warranty periods.

The function of the MPPT controller: It is mainly to detect the DC voltage and output current of the circuit, thereby calculating the output power of the solar array, and realizing the tracking of the maximum PowerPoint(12 Volt Dc Voltage Controller). The perturbation resistor R and the MOSFET are connected in series. Under the condition that the output voltage is basically stable, the average current through the resistor can be changed by changing the duty cycle of the MOSFET, thereby generating current disturbance.
